I forgot how to forgetful granny!

Hey! Wow.... long time, no post. But I've been making stuff! Most recently (for Christmas), I made this adorable mile-a-minute afghan for my li'l chinese roomie! She's so adorable and it covered her completely despite being so small!!

I love it! I'm going to make another one I think.  love mile-a-minute afghans because they work up so quick and you don't have to take much with you if you want to make a few strips... you just put them together when you're done!

so, i bet you thought that we had flown the coop right?  let me assure you that even if we're not posting, we're still crocheting.  because it's how we stay sane.  coincidentally, the problem with this time of year, it's hard to share projects because most of them will be used as gifts.

but i do have some lil' things to show ya's.

this is a baby hat that i made for a friend at work.  it's black/white striped with a turquoise flower.  it's probably my most favorite baby hat ever.  i've jumped back on the baby hat makin' train. not to be confused with the baby makin' train.  this is my own pattern, including the flower.  :)

adorable halloween necklaces.  this is a twofer, there's a choker in there too.  very simple, chains with flowers attached. easy peesy rice 'n' cheesy. 

any my most favorite: the crocheted pills.  these are sitting on my desk at work....where i need then the most...  

just kidding.  sort of.

....you're addicted to YARN!

Well my friends, another one bites the dust.  As Shannon and I attempt to spread the yarn love across the Universe (or the SLC, which we lovingly call "silk" because that's what it sounds like when you sound out SLC), we have sucked in one of our bestest friends in the whole wide world.  

Ladies and gentlemen, our good friend Alair has completed her first BAG.  

Yes indeedy, her first project that is not a washcloth.  

Now, we started this endeavor last summer during the week 'o crochet and she's been hookin' ever since. She's incredibly busy so the fact that she completes projects completely impresses me.  AND she has given me something to blog about, as my crochet mojo has gone missing.  

Ta-da!!  I'm so proud.  She's all growed up. 

And speaking of growing up, here are a couple of new baby hats that'll give some wee ones a warm head in their first few weeks.  

I think we finally have sizing down, it took a lot of work.  It's difficult to know how big a baby's head is when you have no access to babies.  

Just sayin'.

Mans, life happens ya know? While Shannon was off saving lives (literally), I have been spending a lot of time with the yarn. More organizing than crocheting, but I do have a project to share today.

My adorable niece is has just turned 8 and has chosen to be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  To help her commemorate, I wanted to give her a small gift.

A break from your regularly scheduled crochet posting

Ok so this is way out of the norm for us but totally indirectly crochet related :) Kami needs some help! She's entered a contest to get a room makeover and desperately needs it. Kami knows I'm not trying to offend. She just has a tiny space that could use another set of eyes for some organization. Pursuit of Purses

Hello class, today I would like to discuss purses. Raise your hand if you love them. Oh good me too. Now raise your hand if you love them so much that you constantly print out crochet patterns thinking, "I'm going to make that for me!", but then never actually make them. Oh and if you have multiple purses but you're too lazy to switch all the junk out so you just stay with the same one and people look at you with confusion when you profess your love of all things purses. Just me? Really?! oh dear...

Well in any case, I got around to making a couple and I have to say I'm kind of really thrilled. Even though neither ended up being for me. It was such an easy pattern and came out looking so good that I want to make one in every color now. For me of course. If I could just find the time! The first one was a present for my boyfriend's sister who had a birthday recently. What do you give your boyfriend's sister? That was a tough choice. I wanted to make something age appropriate (read: not for a child) and I wanted it to be something she would want to actually use. Not something to throw away in a closet corner then donate to the DI in year. I hope I succeeded but I'll have to remember to scope out the DI in her area. kidding...sort of.

Super cute eh? I found the pattern on ravelry and if you're not already a member there, I highly recommend you join. It rocks my socks off. (no I've never crocheted socks)

I got some feedback from my sister that her girls had both claimed the last little Easter looking purse and heart hat as their own. No share-sies! So I decided to make another purse to partially even the score. And I'm working on my first article of clothing, a skirt, for them as well. I think I like making things for the nieces because it's alway smaller and takes less time. There, it's out, I'm lazy.

Ahhh, crochet. Ain't nothin' better.

Do you see this yarn? DO YOU?! It's made out of bamboo. It's addictively soft and the colors are so beautiful, you forget about it being handwash only. You have to just sink your fingers into the skein and nuzzle it against your cheek....

SHUT UP, I KNOW YOU DO IT!

I moseyed over to Michael's to discover it's ON CLEARANCE! It will soon be no more! At least in the colors that exist. Maybe forever! I bought up 5 skeins to make an adorable granny-square afghan. I might go back and buy more.
